Have you ever thought of buying a piece of land?
Right now, where I live, a new truck or SUV costs well over $70k and yet you can find a piece of raw land for the same amount. Which one of these items do you think will gain more in value over time?
Thanks to my dad, I've had the education on buying and selling land, though on a small scale, it's given me insight on land investment. Land with timber can be harvested and sold for a profit. Install a well for water or a septic system and resell it for a profit ready to build. Put in a driveway or run power into a building site. The more utilities or natural resources included, the more the land is worth.
So next time you visit a new car lot or are getting itchy to buy an expensive toy, it may be worth making a call to a local realtor to see what type of land you can get for the same price!
Maybe you can find something close to the water, up in the mountains or down the street where your kids can play.
